BoardLog Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 1, 2026
Last updated: September 4, 2026
BoardLog (the “App”) is an iOS application for managing board game meetup records on your device. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in the App.
1. Overview
The App stores data you enter primarily on your device only and does not send it to external servers. No account registration or sign-in is required.
The App handles information only to the extent necessary to provide its features and does not use it beyond the purposes described below.
2. Types of Information We Handle
2.1 Information You Enter
You may voluntarily register the following information in the App:
| Type | Contents |
|---|---|
| Display name | Your own name or nickname |
| Participant names | Names of people you played with |
| Meetup records | Title, date, location (free-text), notes |
| Play records | Game name, results, scores, notes, replay preferences, etc. |
| Game information | Game name, cover image, catalog identifier |
| Photos | Images registered for meetup moments or game covers |
Notes
- We do not collect GPS or other precise location data. “Location” is text you enter manually.
- We do not collect email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, or contact lists.
- Participant names and photos may include information about people other than you (see Section 9).
2.2 Information Accessed from Your Device
The App accesses device features with your permission to provide the following features:
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Camera | Take photos for meetup records |
| Photo Library (Add Only) | Save generated share cards to your photo library |
| Photo Picker | Load photos you explicitly select |
| File selection (import) | Load BoardLog export files (ZIP, etc.) you explicitly select |
The photo picker accesses only the images you choose. The App does not request ongoing access to your entire photo library. File selection (import) does not request ongoing access to all files on your device.
2.3 Information Processed On Device Only
The following processing happens entirely on your device and is not sent to external servers:
| Processing | Description |
|---|---|
| Statistics | Meetup counts, play counts, photo counts, etc. |
| Face detection | Detects face positions in photos to place stamps on share cards (Apple Vision framework) |
| Plan status | Whether the current plan is Free, Starter Version, or Premium (stored on device) |
| Onboarding state | Whether the welcome flow has been shown |
2.4 Information the App Does Not Automatically Collect
The App does not collect the following information:
- Usage logs, behavioral history, or crash reports
- Advertising identifiers (e.g., IDFA) or tracking data
- IP addresses or device identifiers sent to servers
- Account credentials (the App has no login feature)
3. Purposes of Use
Information obtained and handled by the App is used only for the following purposes:
- Providing App features — Creating, editing, and displaying records; timeline; statistics; game library management
- Sharing features — Generating share card images; sharing via the system share sheet; saving to the photo library
- Data migration and backup — Export and import functionality
- In-app purchases — Purchasing, restoring, and managing access for paid plans such as Starter Version and Premium (via the App Store)
- Support — Responding to inquiries from users
4. Storage Location and Retention
4.1 Where Data Is Stored
Record data handled by the App is stored on your device (the App’s Documents directory and UserDefaults). It is not synced or stored on external cloud servers.
4.2 Retention Period
Data remains on your device until one of the following occurs:
- You delete individual records
- You use “Delete All Data” in Settings
- You uninstall the App from your device
4.3 Device Backups
Your data may be included in iOS iCloud backups or Finder / iTunes device backups. Backup handling is governed by Apple Inc.’s policies.
5. Disclosure to Third Parties
5.1 Disclosure by the App to Third Parties
Except as required by law, the App does not provide your information to third parties. Because the App has no server, it does not transmit user data externally.
5.2 Sharing Initiated by You
When you use the features below, data leaves your device at your direction. You are responsible for where it goes and how it is managed.
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Sharing | Share generated images or export files via messaging apps, social networks, cloud storage, etc. |
| Export | Save records as a ZIP file or password-protected archive outside the App |
| Save to Photos | Save share card images to your photo library |
5.3 External Services and Libraries Used
| Name | Type | Purpose | Data transmission |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple App Store / StoreKit | Payment | Paid plan purchase and restore | Apple processes payment information |
| Apple Vision | OS framework | On-device face detection for share cards | None |
| ZIPFoundation | Open-source library | On-device export/import | None |
When Apple services are used, Apple Inc.’s Privacy Policy applies:
https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
6. Device Permissions
The App requests permissions at the following times:
| Permission | When requested | If denied |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | When you try to take a photo with the camera | Camera capture is unavailable; photo picker selection still works |
| Photo Library (Add) | When you try to save a share card to your library | Saving to the photo library is unavailable |
You can change permissions anytime in your device’s Settings app.
7. Export and Import
7.1 Export
You can export your records (meetups, participants, games, photos, etc.) from Settings as a file.
- Export files contain record data stored in the App.
- Optional password protection (AES-GCM encryption) is available.
- Passwords are used only on your device. The App cannot retain passwords. If you forget a password, encrypted files cannot be decrypted.
7.2 Import
You can import export files or compatible archives and merge them with existing records. Import happens on your device at your direction.
7.3 Your Responsibility
You are responsible for storing, sharing, and managing export files and passwords. If an export file is disclosed to a third party, it cannot be recovered or deleted by the App.
8. Security
The App’s design includes the following measures:
- On-device storage of record data by default (no server transmission)
- Optional password encryption for exports
- Use of the device OS app sandbox
The App stores record data on your device, but it cannot completely eliminate the possibility that data may be viewed by third parties due to device loss, unauthorized access, sharing of export files, or similar events. We recommend setting a device passcode and using Face ID or Touch ID.
9. Information About Other People
If you register participant names or photos that include other people’s information, you must do so with a lawful basis (such as their consent). The App does not actively collect or use third-party information outside your device.
10. Your Rights and Data Management
You can perform the following in the App:
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| View and edit records | Edit directly in each screen |
| Delete individual data | Delete meetups, photos, participants, etc. |
| Delete all data | Settings > Delete All Data |
| Uninstall the App | Remove the App from your device |
Notes
- “Delete All Data” does not remove previously exported files or data in device backups.
- Uninstalling the App removes data in the App’s storage area (including record data and photo files) via the OS.
- Data included in device backups (e.g., iCloud) may need to be removed separately according to your backup settings.
11. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13. If a child under 13 uses the App, they should do so with parental consent and supervision.
12. International Data Transfers
The App does not collect user data on its own servers, so it does not transfer your data internationally.
If you transfer data abroad using export or sharing features, that is your responsibility.
13. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated due to legal changes or App feature updates. For material changes, we will notify you through the App or the App Store listing. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
